Hello friends,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your warm wishes for my recovery and notes to say that you’ve missed me, and to let you all know that I’m now back! (Just like The Terminator!)
After a very hectic few years, where I have been extremely ‘hands on’ in the business, I took some much needed time out for some “R and R” for me, which has given me time to reflect on both my needs and the needs of the business moving forward. It also gave me time to cook, decorate, garden, learn to arrange flowers and join a choir!
I realised it would be madness for me to return and carry on doing the same things I had been doing before and expect not to eventually become exhausted and burnt out again. Therefore, moving forward it was absolutely vital for the future success and progress of the business that we change the structure to enable us to flourish and grow.
One of the really positive things to come out of my break has been to see how my fantastic team have stepped up to the mark, pulling together and ensuring the continued success of the business in my absence, for which I will be eternally grateful to them.
In particular, my colleague Lisa Slater, our Operations and Finance Manager has been completely awesome in how she has both conducted herself and led the team during my absence and I’m thrilled to say that she has now accepted the role of General Manager in the business, responsible for the running of all aspects of the business on a day to day basis. And Lisa and I have formed a senior management team working very much together to further the success of our business.
This is a very positive move for me from a business point of view, as in healthy and forward thinking companies, business owners work ‘on’ their businesses, rather than ‘in’ their businesses, and are able to focus on the bigger picture.
And that’s exactly how I see my role developing the business; I’ll be working ON the business rather than IN it. I’ll be responsible for marketing, new opportunities and product development, strategy, public speaking, running workshops and helping to build a new website - we've got some really exciting projects coming up and some really exciting times ahead, so just watch this space!!
I’ll also be out and about again and popping up at exhibitions and local events so I hope to see you all again soon and thank you again for your continued support..
