Our Story

We love telling our story of how Hcsuk began, as it goes to show how great things can begin with simple conversations.

It all started back in 1989 when we were running ‘Nappies Direct’, a baby nappy delivery service for local Mums. One of the Mums was Anita, who had just had her first baby, Dominic.

Whilst juggling being a new Mum, Anita, together with her parents, was also building a new nursing home Wren Hall in Selston, and she asked us a simple question which was to dramatically change the direction of our business. Here Anita takes up the story:

‘I enquired if you could supply us with adult incontinence products which we would be needing for our residents, and you said you could.’

At the time we got that call, we had no experience in incontinence products, however we saw a customer with a need, and we wanted to help them fulfil that need, so we said yes, we can help! (and figured out how were going to do it after!)

We got in touch with a company who provided adult incontinence products, attended a training course, where we learned as much as we could on incontinence products, fulfilled Anita’s order and then thought, ‘who else needs these?

Our journey had just begun!

We started visiting other local care homes securing orders for incontinence products and building meaningful relationships with the care home managers. We listened and learned more and more about the different needs care homes have and answered further questions such as ‘can you get us gloves and mattresses? And each time we said Yes!

Anita continues:

‘I remember you joining the business in 1990, Jo, and that’s when the business really took off. You developed a broader range of products you were able to provide us with in addition to incontinence products, including PPE, hand hygiene, pressure relieving and moving and handling equipment.’

Over 30 years our business has grown substantially and we are proud to call ourselves a SPECIALIST SUPPLIER to the healthcare industry providing our customers with a TOTAL SOLUTION to all of their healthcare needs.

Our services now extend over three division incorporating every element that either the public or our customers have asked us for, and we said yes.
